Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a botanical garden located in southwest Austin. Founded in 1982 by former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson and the University of Texas at Austin, the center spans over 279 acres and showcases over 900 species of native Texas plants. The center features walking trails, educational exhibits, and a gift shop. It is named after Lady Bird Johnson in recognition of her dedication to conservation and beautification of the natural environment. In addition to being a popular tourist destination, the center also serves as a research institution, aiming to inspire the conservation and restoration of native plants and landscapes.
